Interior of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona

Interior of La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

The interior of La Sagrada Familia is such an interesting and bizarre subject to photograph - the different lines of the columns and the various angles of light and shadow create really dynamic effects. I chose to publish this photo with a split tone effect that enhances the light and shadows, to create a sombre feel, as opposed to utilising the bright colours of the ceiling and columns.

When I first visited Barcelona and La Sagrada Familia in 2010, the interior was incomplete - the columns were bare, the stained glass windows were not in place and there was a great deal of construction work still ongoing. To see the Cathedral interior complete three years on was quite breathtaking.
