Middlewood Farm caravan site review

Hotel Review - Middlewood Farm Gypsy Cabin - Fylingthorpe

In early November we treated ourselves and enjoyed a couple of nights at Middlewood farm in Fylingthrope - This charming caravan site gave us the chance to explore Whitby and try something different in the form of a Gypsy Cabin.

Location - Middlewood farm is located in Fylingthorpe with is only 10 minutes outside Robin Hoods Bay. The caravan site was set in a beautiful range of farmland fields and the whole surroundings were truly beautiful. On our first morning, we walked to Robin Hoods Bay - There is an accessible footpath that is signposted in the caravan park and takes you straight to the main streets at the bottom of the bay. It was a fantastic walk and the footpaths were clearly marked out. We thought that Middlewood farm was in a perfect location, and gave you great opportunities to explore the east coast of Yorkshire.

The Cabin – We stayed in cabin number 7 and it has to be one of the most cosy and cute structures I have ever stayed in. The cabin is made completely of wood and has plenty of insulation so don't worry about being cold. The shape resembles an old gypsy cabin that would have been towed by a horse. Inside there are two beds that join together to form one gigantic double bed that spans the whole width of the cabin. We found the bed to be really comfortable and the mattresses were clean and spongy. At the other end there was a storage unit complete with fridge, microwave and kettle – Perfect for making a quick snack and storing your food.

The beautiful Middlewood Farm

I really can't say enough about the quality of the cabin – It was everything we wanted and it really felt like our home from home for the weekend. We were extremely comfortable and had a pleasant couple of nights sleep.

Cabin Number 7 - Our home for the weekend!

Amenities - Middlewood farm has a set of first class facilities. This really is a quality campsite and you can see why it is so popular. The toilet and shower blocks were immaculate and only a short walk from our cabin. The shower cubicles were spacious, had a seat for elderly people and the water was hot and had a powerful jet. The only downside was that the showers turned off after 5 minutes of use so make sure you don't take too long to have a wash! Overall the whole campsite was well maintained and looked in great condition.

Tucked up and ready for bed! These cabins were truly amazing, could not have asked for more

The Local area - Fylingthorpe is a charming village that is in close proximity to Robin Hoods Bay. Only a short walk from the campsite is the local convenience store where you can buy food, camping supplies, toiletries and drink – The prices are reasonable and the store attended was really polite and helpful. Just across from the shop is the Fylingthorpe pub – We stopped here on Friday evening for a meal. Although at the time the pub was still in the process of obtaining its alcohol licence, we still enjoyed a fantastic meal. I had a cheeseburger, and Lauren had gammon – the homemade chips were absolutely divine and the portions were generous.

The cabins were well spaced and private

Summary - We really enjoyed our stay at Middlewood farm and we will definitely stop again and take Lauren's dog next time! The location and facilities were perfect and the Gypsy cabin itself was a pleasant surprise.
