Hotel Review – The Monarch Hotel, Bridlington
Bridlington is a typical English seaside town on the East Coast of the country; it has a wonderful charm and is a lovely place to stay for a bank holiday weekend. I haven't been to Bridlington since I was a kid so it was nice to go back and get re-acquainted with the place. We stopped for one night at the Monarch Hotel –It was a last minute choice and I didn't really read much up about the hotel, but it turned out to be a good selection and it made our stay that little bit more enjoyable.

Location - The Monarch Hotel is in a great location right on one of the main promenades on the south beach and is only a couple of minutes' walk from the tourist areas with all your typical seaside attractions (Arcades, Crazy Golf, Sweet shops, harbour etc). It is only a ten minute walk from the train station and is on a main road so has easy access if you're travelling by car. We couldn't have picked a better hotel for its location, an added bonus was that it wasn't right in the middle of everything either, so you only had to walk a short distance to find everything, but you didn't get all the noise and bustle of the town either.

Car Park - The only real downside to the Monarch Hotel was it's on site car park – As this is an old building, there would have been no need for a full dedicated car park at the time of its construction, so there is literally a strip down the side of the hotel with 6-7 spaces. As you can see in the photo below the parking was extremely tight and it was difficult to park without hitting another car, or one of the walls – My advice would be to just be patient and take your time if you decide to use the allotted parking.

Accommodation - The room was lovely; we had a sea view, plenty of space, full tea and coffee making facilities, a large bathroom with shower/bath, several sofas & chairs, a wardrobe and a comfortable bed with good lighting. The décor could maybe have done with a spruce up, but this didn't bother me as the room was clean and well-presented and had everything we needed for our stay.

Breakfast - We opted for breakfast in with our room price (£76.00 p/night) and was pleased with what was provided. There was a self-service table with cereal, fruit and various juices and also a made-to-order option where you could have a full English breakfast. I had some cereal, fruit juice, coffee and white toast, while Lauren had toast, tea and a cooked breakfast. The food was all good quality and Lauren enjoyed her cooked breakfast which included sausage, bacon, beans, egg and tomato. The staff were a little flustered and I thought they looked rushed, but I think they were short staffed and we still got our orders in a short amount of time.

All in all the Monarch Hotel was more than adequate for what we wanted, I thought that it was slightly overpriced by maybe £10.00, but it was a bank holiday and we did book with short notice. I would definitely stay here again though!
